A Spot to Plug-in

Living in a small apartment in New York City I am often left searching for space to plug something in, whether it is a toothbrush charger, a beard trimmer, or a mobile device.  Even once I find a spot, I struggle with the messy cord and the item taking up my valuable counter space.

While I was recently out shopping, I came across the answer to my problem – The OXO Charging Shelf.  This simple little invention allows you to charge your phone while keeping it off of the floor or counter-top.  It helps to keep your counter clear of clutter and prevents your phone from being stepped on since you no longer have to rest it on the floor while charging.  It even allows you to wrap up the cord to keep things looking neat and tidy.

Grid it!

Whether you are traveling across town, or traveling across the country, there always seems to be lots of small gadgets and items to carry.  From lip-balm, to pens, to iPods, to headphones, to chargers… the list goes on and on.  No matter how organized you try to keep things, something always seems to get lost at the bottom of your bag, which inevitably results in you pulling everything out of the bag to find the lone item… until now.

I recently discovered this amazing product by Cocoon Innovations called Grid It.  I think it is one of the most versatile travel items I have ever seen and I think it is an absolute necessity.  It keeps everything from your keys to your camera organized and easily accessible.  The various sizes that it comes in makes it not only handy for your everyday bag, but also for managing all of your power cords while you are on the road and for organizing gaming equipment and tools.

P.S. – It will make for a great gift or stocking-stuffer

Hiding those Unruly Cables and Cords

When it comes to offices, I want nothing more than to hide every single cable coming out of a wall or a computer.  I can’t be happier with the advancements that have been made in recent years with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi technology, as the closer we move to a wireless society the more easily I can breathe. 🙂

While I wait for the wires to disappear completely I have found joy in the CableBox created by the folks over at Bluelounge.  The CableBox keeps your unruly cables, surge protectors and power strips out of view and safely tucked away in a fire-retardant plastic box.  You can either store it under your desk, or keep the cleanly designed box of joy out in the open.  No unplugging is required for installation so you can clean-up those cables in less than five minutes.
