Hey, friends! 👋🏼 Recently, I shared a video where I talked about living with anxiety and how that anxiety flared-up this year with the changes I have had going on in my life… from the ending of my relationship with my partner to moving into my new apartment. It’s been a lot, but I’m making it through 😊 and sincerely appreciate the messages of support and love that I received in response to that video. 🤗 Today, I want to share a little update on the anxiety situation and let you know some of the things that I’ve been doing lately to help manage my anxiety, as well as why I was inspired to discuss this publicly.
As I mentioned in my post several weeks ago, creating and sharing a video on this topic causes a great deal of anxiety (and, to be honest… many of the things I put out in the world do). However, I felt the need to share my original video on anxiety, as well as this one, because I believe it’s an important conversation to have and something that we shouldn’t hide in the dark. It’s nothing to be ashamed of and, as I said before, this thing that can be looked at as a weakness… has also been a strength for me. Now, that doesn’t mean living life with anxiety is easy-peasy. It’s actually quite the contrary because that strength can also be exhausting, scary, overwhelming, depressing, and… indescribable. I feel lucky to be able to say that throughout my life I’ve had a strong drive to fight against the darker parts of anxiety and push forward… toward the light… toward growth…. toward healing.
As you’ll hear more about in this video, I was inspired to open up about this in the spring (Mother’s Day to be exact) when I came across Reese Witherspoon’s Instagram post where she was talking about the Child Mind Institute. I immediately started looking into the organization, began following their #MyYoungerSelf campaign and knew I wanted to get involved. I ended up sending them my original anxiety video and was invited to be part of the expansion of the #MyYoungerSelf campaign, which will feature people from around the world sharing their stories and what they would tell their younger self. I’m incredibly honored to be a part of this campaign but really excited to help keep this conversation going.
Please take a moment to watch this week’s video, check out the Child Mind Institute and join me in this important conversation. Also, please don’t forget… click the thumbs up button if you find this video to be helpful… share it with someone who you think might also enjoy it… and be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel! I’m currently working on a bunch of new organizing and decorating videos as I’m finally starting to work on my apartment some more. I can’t wait to share the transformation process with you!
Hey there, friends! 👋🏼 You may recall that in several of my recent videos I’ve been mentioning things like “organized living,” an “organized lifestyle” and how the work I do is not just about organization or design… that it is about a lifestyle. I even referenced this notion in a quote I shared yesterday on Instagram and Facebook, which stated: “Organizing is a journey, not a destination.”
For many of us, organizing isn’t something that we approach in this manner. We approach it as a task that has a finite end point and that there is a day in our future when it will all be done. We will receive a gold star and finally be able to feel settled and “caught up” on life. However, instead, we feel like we’re on a hamster wheel never… getting… to… the… end. 😩 Don’t worry… you’re not alone in this feeling… I know it quite well. 🙄
In fact, even though I know and believe that organizing is a journey… an evolving methodology… a lifestyle (which I have embodied for decades), I still need to remind myself that all the tasks won’t ever be done and how that’s not what it’s all about (that compulsion is just my anxiety talking). Living an organized life or having an organized lifestyle isn’t something you step into once all your to-do list items are complete. It’s actually much simpler than that. It just takes a little bit or awareness, which starts with 4 key words that constitute my definition of “organizing,” as well as an “organized lifestyle.” By being mindful of these 4 words I guarantee that organization will very easily creep its way into your life and begin to have a positive impact on your daily living.
Part of the organizing journey is being inspired, learning and evolving to continue to make life easier. All we need to do is be open to the changes and new ideas. Just remember, that like anything new it takes a little patience to try things out, adjust to the newness and have it feel second nature. However, as many of my clients have told me, once the benefits are felt they don’t know why they didn’t start thinking and living this way sooner.
There’s obviously so much more to talk about on this topic, but I hope that you find this video to be an inspiring step on your organizing journey. If you do, please click the thumbs up button, share it with family and friends, and be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel so we can continue our discussion about organizing & organized living!
Hello, friends! 👋🏼 How are you? It’s been SO long since I’ve posted an update that I actually locked myself out of my blog this morning when I went to login. 😕 It turns out that I totally forgot I had changed my login info… oops! 🙄 Haha! Nevertheless, I’m here now, successfully logged in and ready to start sharing more regularly. There’s been a lot of stuff happening over the past couple years and especially in the past several months. I’ll be sure to get you up-to-speed on some of these tidbits in the coming posts.
One of the exciting bits of news I have to share is that I’m finally taking the plunge with my YouTube channel! What does that mean? Well, it means that you’re going to see my smiling face more regularly. I’m going to be creating weekly videos so that I can share more ideas and tips (#JPtips) about design, organization and all the things I love about home. To kick off this whole new series/venture, I have 3 special videos that I’m going to be sharing with you over the next 3 weeks to tell you a little more about me, my home & my life. Today, I’m starting by talking a little more about why I love home so much, what home means to me & why my career has been a lifetime in the making 😊 I’m so happy to begin this new journey with you… I hope you enjoy and don’t forget to subscribe!
